Bowing To False Gods (we all do it)

I'm pretty sure most everyone has heard story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. When King Nebuchadnezzar built a massive statue of gold, (90 ft tall actually) and commanded that whenever "all people of all nations heard the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music," that they fall down and worship the image of gold Nebuchadnezzar created.

Well, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego didn't bow. They were the only ones who didn't bow.
We seem to have the picture in our minds that all the people who bowed to the statue were pagans, but that's not true. There were thousands of other Jews there too, who probably all claimed to love God. But only three, of those thousands of Jews, actually remained loyal to Him. And they were almost killed for it.

It's the same thing with Christians today. So many of us claim to love God, to love Jesus, go to church, do all these things for God, (or are you really doing it for yourself?) but when the pressure comes, or the opposition arises, we ditch Jesus and go worship some thing or person.

Whether its a person, a celebrity, a device, an activity, they all try to steal us from God. For me that really has been my iPod lately. For you it could be anywhere from relationships to fishing.
It's sad, because we end up worshiping the things that God put into our lives to bless us.
Don't get me wrong, its perfectly fine to enjoy those things. But, we have to keep God first in our lives.

Even when we're pressured by friends, family, peers, society, we need to put God first. Even if it means putting your life second. Jesus put us first when he was on the cross. He completely loyal, even to the point of death. It's only fair that we do the same.

We have to take a stand. No chasing other idols or hiding who we are.Yes, it may "offend" some people. Yeah, there is going to be opposition. But is what they say really going to matter in the end?
I doubt it.
I think it matters more what the creator of the universe, and the author of your life thinks, rather than random people who may not even care about you.

So yeah. Sometimes we're going to fail. Sometimes other things will get in the way between us and God. But we can always fight to keep Jesus at the center, as much as possible.
Yes, some people are going to be against it. Some people are going to get mad. Some may even hate your guts for it. But who cares?  What can they really do?

I'd rather be at peace with God and have issues with people, than be at peace with people and have issues with God.
I'm pretty sure most of you guys feel the same way. :)

Have a great day and God bless!

Daniel 3:16-18 (NLT): Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.(emphasis mine)

  1. It really got to me when you said, we take the things that God has blessed us with, and turn them into idols. I'm getting ready to go to Africa, and sometimes I think I put the trip before God on my priorities list, even though God blessed me with the trip. So thank you for that reality check :) God Bless! :)

    1. No problem, it's just God speaking through me! And thanks! You too!

  2. This has truly blessed me brother. You are in my prayers. GBU :'))

  3. We all have bad patches in life and believe me God checks our faith in Him. We need to have faith in God and keeping doing our work rather than depending on other person
